From the Avalanche techs at 2pm today:
A series of strong Pacific frontal systems will track over our area bringing warm wet conditions for the next few days. Warm and wet will drive increasing avalanche hazards throughout the Kootenays.
The lower 25 % of slopes at the Lardeau Bluffs have very little snow at present, but there is still near continuous snow cover up top. Currently the potential for Hwy affecting avalanches is low, however with warming and snow/rain, conditions at the Bluffs could change quickly.
MoT avalanche staff and YRB road crews will monitor conditions closely over the next 48-72 hours.
We will keep you posted regarding any planned Hwy closures or delays. As always, please check www.drivebc.ca for information about closures and road conditions.
